Android and its versions

ANDROID

Android is the mobile operating system which is inclusive of middle-ware and key applications. Google Inc along with Open handset alliance has made miracle in the world of mobiles by providing this mobile OS as a freeware.




Android is owned by Google but its source code is open to all, thus it attracts many users. It enables anyone to implement their innovative thoughts into the OS by making modifications in the source code to generate new apps.



It is the most prevailing OS, supporting the features of a Smart Phone. 



Smart phones are similar to cellular phones with advanced features of different applications. It is normally based on the OS where various applications can run. It consists of apps for doing specific tasks, such as document creation and editing, high resolution camera, music player, touch screens, GPS, Wi-Fi, web access, QWERTY keyboard and so on. In short, smart phone is a combination of PDA (Personal Digital Assistant which is used to manage personal data) and mobile phone.


Android OS is based on Linux and the apps are created by using java programming. Android permits anybody to download the Android SDK (Software Development Kit) and can create applications. The developers are not examined, and the developed application will be available for download at the “Android Market”. Different mobiles which use Android are Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericson, LG, Karbonn, Micro max and Spice.



DIFFERENT MOBILE OPERATING SYSTEMS


SYMBIAN OS



It is the smart phone operating system produced by Symbian ltd.
This OS is used in Nokia mobiles.
C++, java, JavaScript, assembler, VB and so are the different languages used in the Symbian OS.



iPhone OS (iOS)






           

IOS is the operating system of Apple which was introduced by Steve Jobs.
This OS is used in iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Programming languages used in this OS are Java and objective c.
It the most estimable OS and is expensive too.

BLACKBERRY OS




This OS is used only in the black berry mobiles.
It is designed using C++ language.
It is one of the best OS but it is not widely popular.

WINDOWS MOBILE OS

Windows mobile OS was developed by Microsoft for the smart phones and mobile devices.
This OS is programmed using C++ language.
It provides the robust platform for the mobile applications.

ANDROID VERSIONS

Android has its versions named in an appetizing way thus making it more interesting to be remembered in an easier way.

BASE ANDROID [1.0]

Its features are
Basic email support, introduction of Google Talk, text & MMS messaging and phone dialer application
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, media player you tube video player, Google maps, Google sync and basic camera support were introduced.

CUP CAKE [OS 1.5]


Released on April 30th 2009, it is based on Linux kernel 2.6.27 version.
Its features are

Released on September 15th 2009, it is based on Linux kernel 2.6.29 version.

Released in the years 2009 and 2010, it is based on Linux kernel 2.6.29 version.
