WORKING WITH ACROBAT PDF



  • PDF means Portable Document Format. It allows the user to create documents with multiple options for better accessibility and readability. There are two types of adobe acrobat,
  • Adobe Reader - allows the user to view and print the document.
  • Acrobat - allows the user to create and read the document.
  • A word document can also be converted to a PDF file for better usage.  

CREATION OF BOOKMARKS IN ACROBAT 7

  • Book marks in acrobat enables the user to navigate the document easily through headings.

    Following elaborates the procedure for creating bookmarks.

    STEPS

    Open Adobe Acrobat 7.0
    Open a PDF file.  
    Select the “Bookmarks” option from the left side tab.

     


    Change the cursor to “select” icon
    Select the required text heading which has to be in the bookmark tree. After selecting the text, click on the “Options” button.
                                                                                                              

     
    After selecting the text, click on the “Options” button.     
    Select “New Bookmark” to create a new bookmark. Now the selected text becomes a book mark.
    Follow the above steps to create several bookmarks.

     NESTING OF BOOKMARKS UNDER ANOTHER BOOKMARK

    After creation of the bookmarks, the sub headings of specific titles can be nested accordingly.  

    Select the bookmark, and then drag it to the place where ever it has to be placed using the link icon .

    This does not affect the actual pages in the document.

    MOVING OF BOOKMARKS FROM THE NEST

    To move the bookmarks out of the nest, click on that bookmark and drag it out of the nest and place it in the required place.

    CONVERSION OF A WORD DOCUMENT INTO PDF FILE

    A word document can be converted to PDF format. Following section explains about conversion of ms word 2007 to PDF format.

    STEPS  

    Open a MS office word 2007 document.
    Click on “Office” button .
    Select the “Save as” option.
    Click “PDF or XPS format” option to save the file in PDF format.
    The file gets automatically saved in PDF format.



    Click on the “Publish” button, now the PDF format file of the word document opens.
